Dear Members
In our last AGM, few members had shown their inclination towards transfer/sale of their land share within the society. They had asked for the list of members and their contact numbers to coordinate with them and form an opinion for the future course of action.
You all are aware that this Society was formed around 5 years back for the purpose of taking advantage of DDA’s Land Pooling Policy for everyone’s benefit. We all gathered together, and only after receiving a positive response from a large number of people we initiated the process of Society registration once the policy was notified by the Central Govt in Sep 2013. Around 3.5 acres of land was purchased in the P2 Zone and the land papers were shared with all the members. This entire process was placed before the members in the first AGM and ratified by all the members present in the meeting. At that time, arrangements were also made for the physical verification/survey of the land by the members and the members present in the meeting had physically verified/surveyed the land.
Due to unforeseen reasons, such as change of govt at the Centre, absence of State Govt for around a year etc, the work got stalled for around 5 years. In between, we kept holding AGMs regularly and also kept our members informed about the developments apart from addressing their queries and concerns. We had also placed our audited accounts in front of all participants in all the AGM’s and getting them passed as per the bye-laws of our society. We also devoted ourselves to the cause by aggressively working with DDA, Ministers, Farmers and other Societies for achieving the purpose.
Apart from this our communication channels had always been open for our members. We have shared information through updates on our website, regular SMS and e-mails. Moreover, we have also responded to our members over mobile phones up to their satisfaction. We have also conducted informal meetings with our members on occasions to cater to their concerns.
All of the above activities we are doing without any office and staff and by utilizing our own personal resources and time so as to avoid any further financial burden on the members.
In the last fortnight, we have seen that an unofficial channel of communication has been opened by a few members through WhatsApp. We are not against it as far as this is for communicating updates, sharing of ideas and taking positive steps towards the progress of the society. Also for giving support to the society for taking on the challenges and roadblocks in the progress of the society. However, this unofficial platform has been used to create panic among the members and to raise questions and doubts against the office bearers of the society on a daily basis. Also, participants of this group have expectations that officials will respond at this unofficial WhatsApp group on a regular basis, which is a bit extreme. As the moderator(s) had themselves agreed, Governing Body was intentionally kept out of this group, since their response to the queries of members on this group was outside the scope of the purpose for which the group was formed.
On demand of some of the members during the last AGM, we had proposed them a possible exit plan (though it is expected to be a long and cumbersome route) with the understanding that they would revert to us latest by end of January with the list of willing members, since we need to get the response within a given time to get the direction in which our efforts needed to be done. However, we did not receive any response in the given time. At the beginning of April 2019, they had again come up with the demand for an exit. Then we had agreed on the cut off date of 20.04.2019 to apprise us about the list of members who wanted to exit, so that we may come up with the plan and process of exit (through transfer/sale of their land share). However, before the expiry of the last date and providing us with the list of members, few members are raising other new issues on the WhatsApp group which has no link with the exit plan.
Since we conducted the last AGM; to take care of the new amendments in the pooling policy, such as the participation of a minimum 70% land in each sector, mandatory formation of Sector-wise consortium by the landowners etc, Society had been working to meet the prerequisite. In this endeavour, a Confederation of Developer Entities was also formed by us. Also, as was informed in our last update, shared on 5th of April, DDA had initiated an online portal for the landowners to participate in the policy and we are working round-the-clock.
In spite of our best efforts to meet out the expectations of the members and to go along with the DDA’s Land Pooling policy successfully, the discussions on the WhatsApp group, as had been shared to us by few members, shows that at least some of the members have no longer faith in the working of the Governing Body. In this situation, it is advisable that members should propose/elect new Managing Committee and office bearers for the smooth functioning of the society and to carry things in the direction they deem fit. We are requesting all the members to advise us accordingly so that we can formulate and provide the plan for the formation of a new managing committee or for us to decide on our way forward.
